Seven things you must do before applying makeup

Before you apply a single drop of foundation, concealer or any other product ,you need to make sure your skin is clean and moisturised well. However, you’d be surprised to know that a lot of people choose to skip that step because they aren’t aware of how important it is to prepare their skin beforehand. It turns out that if you skip prepping your skin for makeup, you could end up with clogged pores and suffer breakouts. Even worse, it could negatively affect the outcome of your look and require more touch ups throughout the day. So before you apply any makeup product on your face, you have to take care of the skin underneath first.

Check out these 7 important tips on how to prepare your face before applying makeup:

1. WASH YOUR FACE:

Wash your face with a gentle  cleanser that has no harsh ingredients and won’t leave your skin feeling like the desert. So for example , you should look out for products that contain no fragrance ,alcohol or parabens. Once you have found the product that is right for you, wash your face thoroughly and rinse with lukewarm water.

 2. EXFOLIATE

Exfoliating allows you to remove dead skin cells & reveals a fresher, smoother  skin for makeup application. All you need to do is scrub in circular motions and then rinse with lukewarm water . If you don’t already own one, make sure  you get yourself a good exfoliating scrub with tiny granular particles.

3 . APPLY TONER WITH A COTTON PAD

Applying toner leaves added moisture and will help remove any remaining traces of dirt and impurities. All you have to do is apply some toner to a cotton pad and gently tub it all over your face .

4. MOISTURISE YOUR FACE

You need to be careful with this step, because you don’t want to overdo it by lathering too much and rubbing it on your skin. Instead , use a small amount and gently press the moisturiser on to your face. Your skin will look fresh and soft. Plus, the pressure from your fingers will promote blood circulation and give you natural glow.

5. SPRAY A LIGHT MIST OF ROSE WATER  FOR EXTRA MOISTURE

Regardless of whether  or not you have a dry or oily skin, adding a mist of rose water can actually absorb with the moisturiser into your skin and add a natural glow, rather than just sit on the surface. This would definitely boost the look of your makeup when you apply it.

6. ALLOW YOUR MOISTURIZER TO SINK IN  BEFORE APPLYING YOUR MAKEUP

Applying your makeup too soon after you moisturize can actually cause your makeup to thin out and lead to blotchiness. Make sure you wait at least 2 to 5 minutes and let your moisturiser get absorbed.

 

7. APPLY YOUR PRIMER

Applying primer is easy and it has a ton of benefits. For example , it can hide acne scars, allow for a smoother look, help decrease in sweating and even help your makeup last longer throughout the day. Regardless of your skin types or skin colour, using primer will literally work wonders. So, make sure to apply primer before you start makeup.
